Let's bring BWP into your school neighborhood and afford the writing experience the best way you can.

lqcpr@yahoo.comSince 1995 the Borinquen Writing Project has offered a professional development program dedicated to the improvement of writing skills in all schools, public and private, in Puerto Rico. It offers teachers ways to help their students become successful writers and learners. The BWP is affiliated to the National Writing Project sponsored by the University of California in Berkeley and is the part of the innovative projects offered by the Universityof Sacred Heart in San Juan.
Summer Institute
The Borinquen Writing Project offers English and Spanish K-12 teachers the opportunity to learn from each other. Teacher participants discuss current research and issues in the teaching of writing. Our teachers meet from 9:00am to 3:00 pm throughout the month of June to read, write, create and share ideas with each other.
Participants receive six(6) master level credits towards an M.A. degree in Instructional Systems and Educational Technology at USC.
Participants receive credit for the following course: Eng740 Pedagogy of Writing and Eng625 Literacy Development
They offer demonstrative classes on how they approach the writing process and write extensively while learning innovative teaching strategies and methodology.
They also read and discuss recent research related to the teaching of writing.
After the Summer Institute, participants become part of the Borinquen Writing Project and serve as Teacher Consultants within their schools.

Guest presenters on Summer 2005 were Marina Ramos, Hilda Clemente, and Carmen Medina. They offered workshops on crafting and writing.
2006 Achievements
Denise Patmon and Elise Eidman from the National Writing Project visited the Site. They had a very pleasant meeting with the teacher consultants and the BWP Staff Members.
Wait until the next.......
